Mega Man AKA Rock
Mega Man (The Megas AU)
[personal profile] tobetheone

The brother, twin, special person, whatever. The one that Dr. Light wanted, unlike Proto. He hurts for hte memory of what he's lost in being replaced. Yet he also finds himself very protective of his brother. He wants to learn to fight so he can protect Mega, because no one else does. Is vaguely jealous that Mega lives with HIS god. May soon cause violence toward Tech for the fact that Tech killed Monika in anger. Proto doesn't know how to explain to his brother that his brother can shut down and refuse to consider how Proto feels about things.
Tech Boy
American Gods
[personal profile] twatter

Proto's other special person. He worships Tech Boy and wants to keep him safe, especially from humans and the unworthy Monika. He would do anything for TB and intends to learn to fight so he can protect his god. If he believed in love, he would say he felt such for TB. Has found that Monika has betrayed Tech and been killed by him. They are now divided. Proto is happy for this, though he is made that the god was betrayed. He admitted to Tech that the man is his special person, and that he's been sexually active, but that he finds the idea that Steve might 'love' him foolish. The two have met for a meal together to talk about trust of humans and the like.
Steve
MCU
[personal profile] compelledtoprotect

A human whom Proto is growing to trust. Steve has taught him much, helped him through a virus, given him food, and explained things in ways that other humans have not managed to do or have not given him a good explanation of. They have been intimate, but their relationship was later damaged over Steve's reactions to Proto praising TB and then Steve seeming (to Proto) to not support and care for the fact that Proto considers his machine nature more important than exploring a human one. They fought and Proto fled. Later on Steve attempted to apologize when Proto turned to the network to discuss whether non-humans should strive to be more human. Proto is still determining whether he wishes to forgive Steve, especially after Steve freaked out over Proto facing his nightmares. Proto was offended. However he has decided to be friends with Steve again, and has insisted the man stop pushing him.
Fitz
MCU
[personal profile] hypoxic

Proto's instructor. He is learning from this human what it means to be human. Fitz is, however, very squeamish in ways that can make his explanations frustrating. Proto still has regular tea with the other man.
Jemma
MCU
[personal profile] bravejemma

Mate of Fitz. She explains things scientifically, and Proto appreciates this. Wishes she had been his mentor, but he will not fore sake Fitz. Has informed Proto there is no way to fireproof a scarf. He is sad.
Josie
The Vampire Diaries
[personal profile] polydeukes

Proto's first friend. They bonded in Punishment Class, and seem to share some of the same edge. She is also a friend with Mega, though, and he does not like that his first friend also belongs to his brother. They ended up at a pumpkin carving class together and instead Proto and Josie cut them up to roast seeds and cook pumpkin. Proto tried a raw piece and REALLY didn't like it.
Suzaku
Code Geass
[personal profile] swordofzero

Proto's other friend made during Barbas's school. From Suzaku he learned to throw knives, and Suzaku has agreed to help Proto learn to fight. Proto is fond of this human who does not try to justify human behavior, but has taught him about art. Proto is glad to have his friendship and instruction. Late on Suzaku stood in Proto's corner when he was upset over Steve insisting Proto should be happy to be human. The friendship only grew in August when Suzaku saved Proto from a nightmare of Dr. Light and allowed Proto to kill his inner demon. While Suzaku seemed unbalance, this cemented his place in Proto's trust. Suzaku helped support more of Proto's learning by joining him in the club in late September, to explore humans at their most silly. While there Proto admittted a lot of his weaknesses and fears, that he is made to learn, his true name, and then, well, made out with Suzaku.
Sara
Arrow
[personal profile] captaincanary

A warrior woman. She gifted Proto a knife, taught him kissing (though had not intended it), and agrees that one should not be enslaved. Agreed to help him free animals from a zoo and often tries to teach him understanding. Proto cares for her. He even trusts her after her outrage over Steve upsetting him over who and what he is. His most trusted human female. She found him while she was serving at the Club, and tried to protect him subtly while there. She doesn't approve of how Steve treats him and is very much positive about him learning things for himself and doing what makes him happy. Once he learns the idea of chosen family, he will call her his sister.
Tony
MCU
[personal profile] withmoreme

A good man that Proto believes he can learn from. He seems to have a good understanding of machines and doesn't try to justify human actions all of the time. Allows Proto to come to his own opinions and doesn't mind him being sarcastic.
Lucifer
Game NPC
[personal profile] odaystar

Their Captor, but he feels a bit of kinship with the demon. They are connected through the failures of their fathers. Proto believes he should be protected.
Monika
Doki Doki Literature
[personal profile] holeinwall

A broken down old Printer. Proto doesn't like her at all. She is unworthy of TB, she should not be near his brother, and she has stupid ideas. The woman might have been redeemable, but she wishes to be THEM, to be HUMAN. While Proto hasn't run into her lately, he's learned that Monika cheated on Tech and many others, and Tech killed her for it. While he did chide Tech for the rashness, he doesn't have a problem with the act itself.
Elena
The Vampire Diaries
[personal profile] buried

A friend of his brother's that Proto speaks of quite a bit. Proto did not like being mistaken for his other by her. Resolved in that moemnt to be more distinctive.
Jim Kirk
Star Trek
[personal profile] universal_charm

Tried to argue that humans are not all bad. He managed to offend Proto rather quickly, and Proto doesn't much like the man.
Homelander
The Boys
[personal profile] superdick

Rude. Crass. An asshole. Proto likes him a LOT. The man gave him DVDs of humans versus Machiens. Proto liked this very much. He keeps them still.
Hector
Coco
[personal profile] unpocoloco

A former human. Not one now. Died and is bones. Proto learned something of wanting to seek a new purpose thanks to him.
Hawke
DAI
[personal profile] defaulthawke

A human who tried to get Proto to go to the club. Got lost in trying to explain sex to a robot. Said that Proto needed to learn what he wanted because he would sooner or later have no choice. Proto has taken this to heart.
Hazel
Ava's Possessions
[personal profile] missdemon

One of Proto's Roommates. She scares him. He tries to avoid her.
Huaisang
The Untamed
[personal profile] eternalgrief

Another of Proto's roommates. He's always using a fan. Proto doesn't understand why and Huaisang will not explain. This is frustrating to him.
Adam
The Raven Cycle
[personal profile] inclinatory

Met at the casino. They talked for a time about cheating and counting cards. Proto would like to find him again.
Kavinsky
The Raven Cycle
[personal profile] mitsubishievo

The cigar boy at the casino. He had strange clothing suitable for human females. Proto found him annoying but also hard not to look at. They met again at the carnival and Kavinsky gave Proto some 'special sweets' and said humans do these things to feel good. He also advised Proto to enjoy some carnival rides, which Proto went on to attempt and not fully enjoy. Since then Proto posed a question to the network regarding whether non-humans really should seek humanity and was treated to a philosophical discussion and a suggestion from a human that humans really do kind of suck.
Waverly
Wynonna Earp
[personal profile] stupetballs

A woman he spoke with when asking the Network when speaking of whether one should aspire to be more human. She is only half-human, half angel? They talked a lot about how one might want to or not want to reach for something more human, and even imposing of moral expectations upon others and how to cut people out of your life if it's better for you. She offered to help him undersand which of his books are fact and which are fiction.
Barry
Flash
[personal profile] adultflash

A human who believes he is not human because he has powers. Suggested that Proto should be true to his own feelings and try to explain to others that he doesn't have to have feeligs in line with theirs. Bascially gave Proto a 'Be True To Yourself' talk.
Elcin
Original
[personal profile] decaf

Quite not human. He undersands Proto's conflicts over the suggestion that he should be more human. They have discussed the way that humans are beginning to affect Elcin's world and life back home. They also discussed how illogical they can be.
Conrad
???
[personal profile] conradachenleck

Formerly human. Not the Proto really knows what that means. Met in discussion online about whether one should strive to be more human. Spoke again later about how to acquire steaks and what restaurants are.
Zelda
Sabrina
[personal profile] arhivista

Discussed with Proto just what he was and how he has a different form here. He spoke also on how humans feel entitled to dictate to their creations.
Leonard
DCEU
[personal profile] chillestrogue

A human who noted how human-centric sins seemed to be. Agreed that humans are pretty terrible. When he heard Proto idolized Skynet, he started to subtly suggest more child (and human) friendly things like Iron Giant and A.I. Proto is torn on being leery of the man and being interested. They met again in August during the Mares. Proto was disdainful of the man's fear of sleep, but he's a hypocrite so who is shocked? However the man did teach him about coffee and that is interesting. Later on Leonard asked if Proto wanted to join his team in their plotting. However Proto wasn't sure he believed that Tech would let someone else be in charge so he has chosen to check with Tech first. Even IF Leonard was offering to make him a blaster. The two met again when Leonard needed some vehicle help. Proto thought this was weird and mentioned he hadn't spoken to Tech yet. So Leonard came to pick him up. Proto judges Leonard's driving habits.
Jack
Supernatural
[personal profile] dimensionalcanopener

Human that claims to be god. Proto disagrees with him. They are having a philosophical debate over whether Lucifer is bad and even trapped in hell.
Bucky Barnes
MCU
[personal profile] endofcompliance

A human with robot parts and who had previously been programmed. Proto met him when going to the gym, and was immediately enraptured with the arm. He has spoken to Bucky some about his origins, and wants to learn more about the creation of Bucky's arm. Bucky has offered to train him, and is sheltering Proto in his home in Hellburbia. He has given Proto a gun, and discussed fighting with shields with him.

IC Info

Name: Proto Man AKA Blues
Canon: Mega Man - The Megas AU
Age: Unknown (Appears 18+, created as young adult)
Appearance: Proto Man as robot; Hell-Given Human Form

Roughly 5'8", brown hair, blue eyes, medium build edging on slightly stocky. Often seen wearing sunglasses and a long yellow scarf. Often looks either irritated or confused. For a while after his arrival he will also often seem slightly off balance and uncertain of his body, given the difference in how he is built compared to his robotic form.

Canon Point: History Repeating: Red, after Make Your Choice
Background: TV Tropes He's the second listed character

In the year 200X Dr. Light set out to make the first humanoid robot that was capable of independent thought and behavior. This was done with help from his lab assistant, Dr. Wily. This prototype was dubbed Blues, and Dr. Light made Blues with several purposes, including to be his son, to create a bridge between humanity and the future of robotics, and to be a source of hope and protection for humanity as technology continued to advance. A robotic savior for humanity. For a time Blues was active and the pinnacle of robotics research from the foremost roboticist in the world. He had a place, a family, and was loved. This was until a critical flaw was discovered in his core, his heart. The cutting-edge solar-powered core was deemed not able to sustain Blues without further damage, and Blues was informed that he was being temporarily shut down while the problem was addressed.

It is unknown why this promise of Dr. Light to his first son was broken. But at some point after being powered down and having his core removed, Blues was discarded by Light for a long period of time. In this time a new robot was made to fulfill the same role, dubbed Rock by Dr. Light. But Dr. Light and Wily had a falling out before this, and Wily came to the conclusion that robots were oppressed and needed liberated through violent revolution. This led to a number of conflicts between Wily and the world, with the retrofitted Rock, redubbed Mega Man, to fight the way. After his second defeat Wily also set out to find an answer of Mega Man coming in to stop his efforts. It was then he discovered the discarded Blues, his body at this point broken down and much of him rusted to red. Wily developed a new, nuclear-powered core for Blues, and gave him an arm-canon to replace a damaged arm. He dubbed the restored and upgraded robot 'Break Man'.

Upon his awakening Blues found himself long abandoned by his father, and very little research indicated that he had been replaced by someone built to resemble him. He had been thoroughly replaced by his father in all matters, betrayed and his metaphorical heart broken. Enraged, Break Man swore vengeance, starting by taking down his brother. In time he decided the better answer was to convince Mega Man to the robot rebellion, fighting his brother a number of times in the process of trying to convince him, even noting that killing his own kind would never make Mega truly human. This stance continued even after Gamma came to the conclusion that the only way to create peace on Earth was through the complete extermination of all humanity.

In his final head to head battle with Mega Man, Break Man finally explained his history to his brother, nothing that his failure to kill Mega came from the difficulty of trying to kill someone who you shared a face with. He even noted that his own core, his heart, had been perfected and given to Mega Man instead. He refused the appellation given to him of Break Man, declaring that he was the first, the original, the Proto Man, and that there could be no peace between humans and robots. Mega, he held, had to make the choice whether to continue to destroy his own people, or to stand with them and win their freedom from those who would discard them if they weren't living up to some arbitrary ideal.

Personality:
  • Distrust of Humans: Proto Man was betrayed by his creator by being turned off and used for parts before being discarded. Because of the fact that this happened after he was told it was a temporary process to repair him, he holds no trust that humans will follow through with their word. If his creator, his loving father, could lie to him and betray him, why should he trust any humans?

  • Revenge Seeking: After the mother father really of all betrayals, he reacts very poorly to any slights. If someone harms him, makes him too upset, or just inspires anger in Proto, he may well try and seek revenge on them. Anything that harms him is inherently wrong and must be avenged, even if the process of avenging it causes him harm.

  • Rebellious: The status quo in Proto's world makes him, the first truly thinking machine, merely a tool and not a person. Given the way that robots and other machines are treated and how easily he was discarded, he finds subscribing to any status quo that oppresses or harms anyone as something to fight against. This will extend quite easily to the 'oppressed' of hell and acts of discrimination once he learns of them.

  • Lack of Purpose: As a robot Proto had been told that his purposes were delineated by his father's will, goals, and his code. After that he moved onto a purpose of winning freedom and power for machines. These goals don't apply here, and since his existence was built around them, Proto will often find himself at a loss for what to do with himself, what he wants, and how he feels. This means goals offered to him will likely earn a very serious level of mono-focus until they have been achieved.

  • Confidence and Arrogance: Proto likes to give off an air of being in control of himself, his situation, and the world around him. This presents in a confident and arrogant attitude that isn't quite warranted. In a mismatched fight he's certain he's going to win and will make sure the people around him know it. Trying to get someone to come around to his way of thinking? He speaks with and absolute confidence that his way is right and nothing could change his mind, but others should bend to agree with him.

  • Uncertainty: While Proto will never admit it, he's not very learned in the ways of the world. What he knows is what he was programmed with, and his limited frame of reference and experience. This means when asked what he wants, he will not have answers. Even asking him what his preferences are won't get very far. He hasn't yet learned enough to know what he wants or needs. Offering him choices is more likely to earn responses and decisions than suggesting that he can figure things out on his own.

Weaknesses/Temptations: By being given a human form, Proto Man is rendered quite weak to the temptations of the flesh. He's never had food, true physical contact, or all the bodily functions that come with it. He can easily be led astray by trying out these things previously unavailable to him. He's also prone to anger and distrust of humans, so it may be easy to talk him into striking out against other Sinners. There is also a physical weakness in that Proto is going to have a lot of problems understanding the limitations of the human form, expecting himself to be able to things like jump from high places without serious damage.
